Broomball

The Broomball plugin allows users to play the mini-game of Broomball. Players aim to score points by shooting balls through hoops, with the team earning the most points winning the match. It is designed for both officially sanctioned competitive “House” seasons and casual practice play.
How to Play
Section titled “How to Play”To participate in a match, players must interact with the [Broomball] sign located at the pitch.
- Select Game Type: Choose between a practice session or an official league match.
- Select Position: Click the icon for the role you wish to play.
- Positioning: Once the game starts, follow the particle trails to fly to your starting position.
- The Game: The match begins once all players are in place. The game only ends when a Seeker catches the Snitch.
Positions & Mechanics
Section titled “Positions & Mechanics”Teams consist of up to 7 players: 3 Chasers, 2 Beaters, 1 Keeper, and 1 Seeker.
Chaser (3 per team)
Section titled “Chaser (3 per team)”- Role: The primary scorers. Gain 10 points per goal.
- Actions:
- Left-Click Teammate: Pass the Quaffle.
- Left-Click Air: Shoot or throw the ball.
- Stealing: Can steal the ball from opposing Chasers.
Beater (2 per team)
Section titled “Beater (2 per team)”- Role: The enforcers. Use Bludgers to disrupt the enemy.
- Actions:
- Left-Click Bludger: Grab a flying Bludger.
- Left-Click Enemy: Launch the Bludger to blind or knock them off their broom.
- F (Swap Hand): Toggle highlights between Quaffle-related, Snitch-related, or none.
Keeper (1 per team)
Section titled “Keeper (1 per team)”- Role: The defender. Protects the hoops from Chasers.
- Actions:
- Left-Click Enemy: Steal the Quaffle from the Chaser highlighted in white.
- Recovery: Pick up the Quaffle from the hoop after a goal to pass it back into play.
- Constraint: Cannot score or steal if they cross the half-way line.
Seeker (1 per team)
Section titled “Seeker (1 per team)”- Role: The game-ender.
- Actions:
- The Catch: Locate and catch the Snitch.
- Reward: Catching the Snitch awards 150 points and immediately ends the game.
Game Types
Section titled “Game Types”Practice Games
Section titled “Practice Games”- Duration: 15 minutes.
- Purpose: Used for training, casual play, and learning mechanics.
Official Games
Section titled “Official Games”- Duration: 30 minutes.
- Requirement: Teams require a minimum of 5 players (2 Chasers, 1 Beater, 1 Keeper, and 1 Seeker).
- Scheduling: These matches coincide with the official Broomball season.
Official Season Rules
Section titled “Official Season Rules”The Broomball season consists of 6 games where each team plays every other team once.
- Winning: The team with the most wins at the end of the season is the champion.
- Tie-Breakers: Ties in the standings are broken based on Point Difference.
- Substitutes: Teams may use a substitute from a different house if both team captains agree.
- Forfeits: If a team cannot field the minimum 5-player lineup, they must forfeit.
- Penalty: The opposing team is awarded a win with a 250 point difference (+250 for the winners, -250 for the losers).
Team Management
Section titled “Team Management”Broomball teams are comprised of members from each individual house.
The Captain
Section titled “The Captain”Each house elects one Team Captain who holds the following responsibilities:
- Managing the team roster and selecting the starting lineup.
- Appointing a Co-Captain.
- Scheduling team practices.
- Requirement: Captains must play at least one match during the season to remain eligible.
Elections
Section titled “Elections”Votes for new captains are held between seasons. A Head of House (regardless of which house they lead) must be present to officiate the election process.
